What could you do? If you had the clarity of mind to navigate through even the most uncertain of events? My mind is a funny place. There are times when I believe that I have a clear understanding of those around me and their intent. And then there is reality…. Clarity of mind. Perhaps decisiveness is a more accurate descriptor. I say that because in those instances where I think that I have the most clarity, I am probably least open to alternative possibilities. When I have formulated my clear thinking plan of action to navigate from A to Z, I am frequently stuck in that place where I am right and know all future outcomes – yeah right.
While my ego loves being right, thinking I am right reduces my field of vision. I have learned, the hard way, and continue to attend this school, that I am most clear about what needs to be done when I am focused on the short term and open to all that is in front of me. I say that because it is in those situations where I am focused on the most immediate part of the problem, of the situation of life that I can get the closest to clarity. It is also the only time that I really can deal with uncertain events and while it can feel a little out of control, I know that nothing is certain except this moment.
Oh yes, the other big take away, I am not right all the time. In fact I am frequently wrong. And that is ok. In recognizing that I am wrong, that I don’t have all the answers and can’t calculate every possible outcome I come back to this moment and the immediate next step in dealing with what is right in front of me. I have begun to see what many people have written about through the ages. I only have this moment and if I stay in this moment I have the greatest potential to navigate through the uncertainty that we call life. Now if I could just do that consistently….
What could you do …if you had the clarity of mind to navigate through the most uncertain of events?
